Meet our Management Team

Rick P. Corbett, President and CEO

Mr. Corbett joined Superior Vision  in 1996. He has over twenty-five years of managed healthcare experience. He formerly served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Foundation Health National Life Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Foundation Health Corporation. Mr. Corbett's previous positions include serving as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio. During his eleven year career at BCBS of Ohio, Mr. Corbett served in several key positions launching the Company's initial HMO and PPO efforts as well as creating a large account consulting unit. Early in his career, he worked in field sales for Aetna Life and Casualty. Mr. Corbett received his bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit and his MBA from the University of Toledo. He also received the designation of Certified Health Consultant from the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University.

 

Kimberley Hess, Senior Vice President of Operations and Account Management

Ms. Hess joined Superior Vision in 1997. She has over 25 years experience in the managed healthcare and insurance industries. Formerly, she was with Vision Service Plan where she oversaw all group reporting and membership enrollment. In her career with Anthem Health as Director of Information and Administrative Services, Ms. Hess managed customer service, claims, finance, credentialing, and information services. Previous managed care experience includes Foundation Health as Special Project Manager for system wide implementation of a total managed care package and premium accounting and eligibility.  Ms. Hess received her BS from St. Mary's College and holds a MBA from Golden Gate University. She presently serves on the adjunct faculty at Golden Gate University.

 

Lori Hemmingsen-Souza, RN, Vice President of Product Development & Compliance

Ms. Hemmingsen-Souza, RN is the Vice President of Product Development and Compliance. She joined Superior Vision as Vice President Provider Relations & Contracting in 1997, building the department and provider network to current standing. In 2001 she added the Compliance and TPA Licensing departments to her responsibilities and in 2007, moved into her current new role. She has over 25 years of increasing experience and responsibilities in the managed healthcare, insurance and disease management industries, as well as clinical health care experience. Prior to joining Superior Vision she worked with Access Health, Inc. (currently McKesson), Anthem Insurance and American General Group Health Insurance, capacities including provider network development for commercial, ASO, government and Medicaid related programs, client account management, as well as worker’s compensation and group health catastrophic case management. She assisted in the development of one of the first statewide PPOs as well as the first EPO established in California. She holds a Certification with the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) in Group Insurance and Managed Care. Ms. Hemmingsen-Souza is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare Services and Administration from St. Mary's College.

 

Wayne Muller, Sr. Vice President, Business Development - RFP, Corporate Secretary

Previous to joining Superior Vision in 1995, Mr. Muller was President & CEO of Superior Optical Company, an ophthalmology-based 60 store optical dispensing firm in California acquired by Benson Eyecare Corporation in 1993. Mr. Muller participated in the inception and creation of the Superior Vision Plan beginning in 1993. Mr. Muller served for 17 years on the Board of Directors of Medical Eye Services/Eye Care Network, a California based vision plan and TPA. Mr. Muller also has held leadership positions in a number of professional associations including the California Association of Dispensing Opticians, Optician Association of America, National Academy of Opticianry, Retinitus Pigmentosa International and the National Society to Prevent Blindness. Mr. Muller has a BA from Woodbury University and completed the Business Management Program at the UCLA Graduate School of Business.

 

Joanna Freeman, Vice President of Finance

Ms. Freeman joined Superior Vision in March of 1996.  Ms. Freeman was employed as an accounting/ customer service manager for Vesta Healthcare, Inc., a national home medical equipment supplier. Ms. Freeman also spent several years with Deloitte & Touche as a staff and senior accountant, where she became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Ms. Freeman holds a Bachelors degree in business with an emphasis in accounting from Indiana University.

 

Gina Dickey, Vice President of Human Resources and Strategic Planning

Ms. Dickey has more than 25 years experience in human resources management, organizational development and customer service management. Ms. Dickey has served as a senior executive in the human resources/organizational development field across many industries including the healthcare industry in managed care and major health care systems, biotech, and technology. She has been accountable for all aspects of human resources management and strategic partnerships within large (Fortune 1000) and small organizations including recruiting, employment law, compensation, benefits management and management training, and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Dickey received her B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado and has attended the University of Michigan's Executive School of Education for additional training in her field.

 

Karen O'Brien, Vice President of Marketing

Ms. O'Brien has more than 25 years experience in marketing management, sales, customer service/client care, strategic account management, and organizational development. Ms. O'Brien has served as a senior executive in the healthcare industry in managed care organizations and major health care systems. She has been accountable for client and broker relationships and strategic partnerships with a wide variety of Fortune 1000 companies and government entities. Ms. O'Brien holds an undergraduate degree in Multi-Media Management, a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration, and is an organizational psychology PhD candidate. A torchbearer in the 2002 Olympics, she has been profiled in Sacramento Magazine and on NBC's "Today Show."

 

Zon Dunn, Vice President of Provider Relations

Ms. Dunn joined Superior Vision in 2001 and spent the last 5 years in the role of Provider Relations Manager. Ms. Dunn has over 15 years of management experience in the healthcare and insurance industries. Prior to joining Superior Vision, Ms. Dunn held positions with Access Health and Foundation Health and has experience in account management, provider relations, customer service, case management, fraud and abuse management, nurse triage, physician referrals, and disease management information. Ms. Dunn is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University and began her career as an ICU nurse in Texas.

Meet Our Sales Executives

Rick Kjerstad, CEBS, Regional Vice President of Sales

Mr. Kjerstad is Regional Vice President of Sales for the Central Region headquartered in Denver, Colorado.  He joined Superior Vision in 1998. He has 20 years of experience in the employee benefits industry of which 15 years has been spent specifically in managed vision care. He has partnered with large corporations as well as insurance carriers, TPA's and associations. Mr. Kjerstad has earned the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He has a Bachelors degree in business management from the University of Nebraska.

 

Dan Moore, Regional Vice President of Sales

Mr. Moore, CLU, is Regional Vice President, Southeast Region and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.  He has over 30 years of experience in the insurance and employee benefits industry. Mr. Moore joined Superior Vision in 1999 with a broad background in insurance products and agency management. His experience includes development, sales and management of fully insured and self-funded medical plans along with dental, LTD, STD, vision, and payroll deduction plans. Mr. Moore attended Kennesaw State University, and obtained his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from the American College in Bryn Mahr, Pennsylvania. Mr. Moore is currently enrolled in the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist program from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Roger Watson, Regional Vice President of Sales

Mr. Watson joined Superior Vision in 2004 with over 20 years of experience in the managed healthcare field. He is headquartered in the Atlanta area and is the Regional Vice President of Sales covering much of Mid/South/Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Mr. Watson has extensive experience in sales and national accounts in the managed vision care arena. He has partnered with large corporations as well as insurance carriers, TPA's and associations. Mr. Watson received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Southern California.

Tony Parker, Regional Vice-President of Sales

Mr. Parker joined Superior Vision in 2007 as the Regional Vice-President, Midwest Region. He has over ten years of experience in the insurance industry with an extensive background in dental and vision products and sales management. Mr. Parker’s experience includes product development and design, sales, and strategic analysis. He has worked with various insurance carriers, corporations, TPA’s, brokerage firms, consultants, and associations. He has held several local board positions with National Association of Health Underwriters. He attended Johnson College in Kansas and spent twelve years as an Intelligence Analyst in the Air National Guard.

 

Greg Beck, Regional V.P. of Sales

Mr. Beck is Regional Vice President of Sales for the Great Lakes Region headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. He joined Superior Vision in 2008. He has over twenty years of experience in the employee benefits industry with an extensive background in health, dental, and vision products of which 6 years has been spent specifically in managed vision care.. He has partnered with large corporations as well as insurance carriers, TPA’s and associations. Greg has a B.S. in Public Finance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and has also attended the Universite de Pau in France where he studied Cultural Studies.

 

Tami Eggimann, Regional V.P. of Sales

Ms. Eggimann is Regional Vice President of Sales for the West Coast Region headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. She joined Superior Vision in 2008. She has over twenty years of experience in the insurance industry with an impressive background in medical, dental, vision and life products as well as sales management. Her last 7 years have been spent specifically in managed vision care. Ms. Eggimann has held positions in both the sales and account management fields and has partnered with large corporations, smaller organizations, insurance carriers, TPA’s and associations. Ms. Eggimann has a B.A. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters as well as the Arizona and Phoenix Associations of Health Underwriters.
