Employees Retirement System of Texas to Offer
New Vision Plan from Superior Vision

Superior Vision Chosen to Provide Optional Vision Benefits to Employees and Retirees

LINTHICUM, MD, (August 15, 2016) – The Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) Board of Trustees selected Superior Vision Services, Inc. (Superior Vision) to administer a newly offered group vision plan to State of Texas employees, retirees and their dependents who are part of the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP).

The benefit, known as State of Texas Vision, is an optional vision benefit program designed to help plan participants significantly improve eye health and wellness while reducing eyewear costs. The plan is self-funded by ERS and paid for entirely by plan participants. Details are available at www.stateoftexasvision.com.

“We are honored that the ERS board has placed its trust in Superior Vision to deliver the first-ever group vision plan to their employees, retirees and their dependents. We’re also proud that Superior Vision was selected based on our comprehensive provider network,” said Kirk Rothrock, CEO of Superior Vision.

“Superior Vision serves more than 11 million members, including 2.6 million members in Texas, through employer-sponsored plans, health plans and government-sponsored programs. Our unique network covers each market segment, including specialized eye care chains, leading optical retailers, boutique retailers and independent vision care providers to deliver the choice members need and want,” Rothrock concluded.

Superior Vision was awarded the contract by the ERS Board of Trustees in May 2016 for a four-year term from September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2020. The open enrollment period was July 11, 2016 through August 12, 2016. State of Texas Vision participants will begin using the vision plan on September 1, 2016.
