The members of our Executive Team oversee their designated areas for Davis Vision-Superior Vision.
Kirk Rothrock, Chief Executive Officer
Kirk Rothrock joined Superior Vision in 2013. He oversees all aspects of Davis Vision-Superior Vision. He is responsible for providing corporate direction and for the overall performance of the company. He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the health care marketplace, most recently as President and CEO of Sentient Medical Systems. Sentient is a leading national provider of outsourced intraoperative neuromonitoring solutions to hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Kirk’s previous positions include Chairman and CEO of CompBenefits, a leading vision and dental benefits provider, and Humana’s Senior Vice President of Ancillary Products.
Kirk is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and an MBA in Finance.
Jonathan Bicknell, Chief Financial Officer
Jonathan Bicknell joined Davis Vision-Superior Vision in 2018. He is responsible for all aspects of the finance organization, including financial operations, capital markets and investor relations. Jonathan’s professional career includes his previous role as Chief Financial Officer with inVentiv Health Inc. and as Partner in the Banking & Capital Markets group at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. Jonathan’s significant experiences and accomplishments in his prior roles will be of great value to our combined organization that supports 33 million members.
Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Middlebury College and Master of Business Administration and Master of Science from Northeastern University.
Hayley Ellington-Buckles, Chief Compliance Officer
Hayley Ellington-Buckles joined Davis Vision in 2012. She is responsible for overseeing regulatory, compliance, and ethics matters across Davis Vision-Superior Vision. She has more than 20 years of managed care, legal, compliance, and operations experience working for insurance and specialty health organizations. Her multidisciplinary experience gives her a unique perspective on how to successfully influence integrating compliance into every area of the organization.
Prior to joining Davis Vision, Hayley served as legal counsel for Humana Inc. for six years. During her tenure with Humana, she was counsel to Humana’s second largest market and focused on various subject areas including regulatory compliance, PPACA, behavioral health, and special investigations among others.
Hayley is a graduate of the University of Texas, Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies-Corporate Compliance and a Juris Doctor from Texas A&M School of Law (formerly Texas Wesleyan).
Walt Meffert, Chief Information Officer
Walt Meffert joined Davis Vision in 2015. He is accountable for establishing and executing the company’s vision for industry-leading technology and administrative solutions focused on the delivery of an excellent customer experience across all business areas. Walt has more than 27 years of experience as a business and technology leader aligning and leveraging technology in diverse industries.
Walt is a graduate of the renowned GE Edison Engineering program and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University.
Mark C. Ruchman M.D., Chief Medical Officer
Mark C. Ruchman M.D. joined Superior Vision in 2017. He is responsible for medical policy, including utilization management, quality improvement, credentialing, technology assessment, protocol development, accreditation standards and clinical guidelines. He has more than thirty years of experience in eye care medical management. Dr. Ruchman is a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Ruchman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Williams College, magna cum laude where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine and completed both his ophthalmology residency and fellowship in ophthalmic plastic surgery and orbital disease at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Scott Hamey, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Manufacturing
Scott Hamey joined Davis Vision in 2011 and spent six years as the Chief Financial Officer with oversight into all financial services including accounting, financial planning, accounts receivable, business analysis, and underwriting. Scott has more than 20 years of experience in business development, finance, and underwriting and is now responsible for driving strategy development, oversight of manufacturing, as well as oversight of network operations.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from The Ohio State University.
Steve Margolis, Executive Vice President of Operations
Steve Margolis joined Davis Vision-Superior Vision in 2018. He is responsible for all operations of the combined organization. Steve has a strong track record of improving customer satisfaction and customer retention and has successfully led initiatives to migrate business to new technology and operational platforms. Steve is a 25-year healthcare industry veteran, with previous roles at United Health Group, Healthways, and most recently, CareFirst (MD) Blue Cross and Blue Shield. His expertise includes operational oversight of a number of benefit products (medical and ancillary) for a variety of customer segments, ranging from Individual Market products to the Federal Employee Program.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Clark University and a Masters of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management.
Amy Mann, Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Amy Mann joined Superior Vision in 2014 as Vice President of Human Resources and brings with her more than 25 years of human resources management. Amy is responsible for all human resource programs for Davis Vision-Superior Vision including organizational development, retention and recognition, performance coaching and assessment and management development. Her experience includes companies of varying sizes and spans an array of industries. Prior to joining the company, Amy served as Vice President of Human Resources at Cornerstone Records Management.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida State University.
Josh Silverman, Senior Vice President of Transformation
Josh Silverman joined Superior Vision in September of 2013 as the Vice President of Corporate Development. He is responsible for driving strategic initiatives to broaden the company’s product portfolio, expand its distribution partnerships, and enter new customer markets. Josh spent the previous six years at UnitedHealthcare Vision (formerly Spectera) as Vice President of Strategy and Performance Management. Prior roles include financial management positions at Broadlane Inc., Caremark Inc., and Lynx Physician Billing.
Josh received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado and his Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas – Dallas.
Bruce Tavel, Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs
Bruce Tavel joined Superior Vision in 2017. Bruce is responsible for overseeing legal and regulatory matters, including formulating corporate legal policies. He is also Secretary of Superior Vision. For more than twenty years Bruce has been providing compliance-driven and result-oriented advice to national, regional, and local managed care organizations, with a particular focus and expertise on vision plans and ancillary benefits. Most recently, Bruce was Associate General Counsel for EyeMed Vision Care and Luxottica Group, and earlier in his career he was Associate General Counsel with UnitedHealth Group and also spent time in private practice with large, international law firms.
Bruce is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School.
Elizabeth Klunk, Vice President of Medical Management
Liz Klunk joined Davis Vision-Superior Vision in 2018. She is responsible for ensuring our organization builds and maintains the highest levels of quality in both clinical and operational services. Liz holds national Case Management Certification and is a nurse by training and vocation. She has spent the last 15 years working in and around health insurers in a variety of clinical operations leadership roles. Liz understands the needs of our health plan clients, their operations, and what our organization can do to assist them in managing the health of their members.
Liz holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Thomas Edison University and is an MBA candidate at Benedictine University.
